We kick off our track day season with one of the most enjoyable events on the calendar- the Phakisa Track Weekend!
Here is the important information, PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BEFORE DOING YOUR REGISTRATION.
Securing your entry
ONLY PAYMENT SECURES YOUR ENTRY. Entries will close strictly on 6 March. Please do your entry and payment as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Please note trophies will be ordered according to entries received and paid for by 27 February.
Season Ticket Entries
If you have booked a season ticket entry, you need only notify the organizer that you will be attending. Your entry will be processed for you.
The time trial sessions will run as they have done in 2017. Cars will be split into 2 groups according to lap time/performance. The one benefit of a Phakisa weekend is there is loads of track time and space available.
If for any reason your car does not comply completely within the new classes, the organizer reserves the right to place you in the applicable class. Please take note of the attached Time Trial Classes document for further info. If you are not sure of anything, please feel free to contact Michael Broom.
Time Trial Championship
We will continue to run a season championship. Points are scored as follows at each event:
Bridgestone BMW Club Racing Series
The club’s own racing series makes a return to the track days in 2018. The races will run in the standard format.
INEX Legends Championship
This popular series joins our event as an invitational class. They offer some of the most exciting racing around and are a great social club to add to the atmosphere.
Saturday will end with a prize giving in the pits. Thereafter, we have informally booked at Mojo’s in Welkom for dinner which has proven to be a favourite amongst members.
Mandatory clothing for time trials is a helmet, driving gloves, long cotton shirt, long pants and closed shoes. It is highly recommended to carry a fire extinguisher in your car.
You are welcome to take passengers on track in the time trial sessions. They will need to complete a passenger indemnity and pay R50 at the BMW Car Club desk on the day.
MSA licences are required for this event. If you do not have a licence, you may apply for a day licence but this needs to be booked and paid for before the event. Contact the organizer for information. PLEASE NOTE IF YOU ARE OVER 50 YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE A STRESS ECG WITH YOUR APPLICATION FOR EITHER A DAY OR ANNUAL LICENCE! If you had a stress ECG done in 2017, you do not need to do another one.
