Entry and registration is now open for our 1st track day of 2020! We start off by heading to Delmas to the twists and turns of Red Star Raceway.
Here is the important information, PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BEFORE DOING YOUR REGISTRATION.
Securing your entry
ONLY PAYMENT SECURES YOUR ENTRY. Entries will close strictly on Wednesday 18 March 2020 or when the event is full, whichever occurs first. Please do your entry and payment as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Time Trial Classes
The time trial classes will remain unchanged from 2019.
We have also made them more appropriate for Race Series drivers that want to enter their cars in the Time Trial Championship as well. If for any reason your car does not comply completely within the new classes, the organizer reserves the right to place you in the applicable class. Please take note of the attached Time Trial Classes document for further info. If you are not sure of anything, please feel free to contact Bernard De Gouveia.
Time Trial Championship
We will continue to run a season championship. Points are scored as follows at each event:
At the end of the season, if you have attended 2 or more track days you will be included into the 2020 Time Trial Championship final results.
We will continue with the group and sessions as per 2019. You will be placed into a group according to your times at certain tracks so we keep cars with similar pace in the same groups, it is vital for you to fill in your times on the registration sheet so we can allocate your group correctly. Sessions are also still the same format which is a block of time on circuit so that we ensure we always have at least 5 to 6 sessions for each group, excluding the open session. The number of groups used will be determined by the number of entries received and the on-track capacity for each circuit.
Mandatory clothing for time trials is a helmet, driving gloves, long cotton shirt, long pants and closed shoes. It is highly recommended to carry a fire extinguisher in your car, please also fit tow hooks onto your cars to make recoveries easier and quicker.
You are welcome to take passengers on track. They will need to complete a passenger indemnity and pay R50 at the BMW Car Club desk on the day.
MSA licences are required for this event. If you do not have a licence, you may apply for a day licence but this needs to be booked and paid for before the event. Contact the organizer for information. PLEASE NOTE IF YOU ARE OVER 50 YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE A STRESS ECG WITH YOUR APPLICATION FOR EITHER A DAY OR ANNUAL LICENCE! (ECGs are valid for 3 years)
Overtaking in corners in all sessions is strictly forbidden. Drivers who transgress will be given a black flag and sent home. More about this will be explained in the drivers briefing.
If another driver wishes to drive your vehicle in the time trial or practice sessions, that driver must be registered on the day. You must either remove your transponder or do two entries for the day with two different transponders.
Bridgestone Hot Laps
The fee is R150 for 2 laps with a professional driver and will run from the first time trial sessions in session 2 and 3.

Details of the 2020 Bridgestone BMW Club Racing Series
The 2020 season sees the club sticking to its roots. As with 2019, by consensus of the drivers, committee and sponsors, the series will once again run on our own track days. The balance of events will be hosted with the 5 other rounds such as the Inland Championship.
We will continue as a regional championship in 2020 and will again crown a regional BMW Champion.
Marketing and PR
The club has retained the services of Racepics.co.za to handle much of the PR and marketing for the race series. Paul Blackburn and the rest of the team have proven themselves to be professional and accountable and we consider them an integral part of what we do. Should you be looking to attract a sponsor for your own car, we are able to provide stats for you that will help in justifying value to a potential or existing sponsor.
Our intention as far as TV and filming goes is to film every round, including those on the track days. These will be broadcast as part of the Inland Championship TV Show as well as on social media. This is however sponsor and budget dependent.
Bridgestone is our title sponsor and partner with iTOO our secondary sponsor. We are appealing for additional sponsors for 2020.
We will still be running a breakout-time based classing system which is detailed in the regulations. Class A will be cars faster than the class B breakout. Our regulations state that classes will be determined on your first qualifying session, but you may nominate your class upfront as part of your annual registration. If your nominated class is lower than your best previously recorded lap time, you will be urged to reconsider.
The track days will be run by Bernard De Gouveia with assistance from the club committee.
After every event we will hold a drivers meeting at the Italian Club in Bedfordview for those participating in both the Time Trials and Race Series. You will be notified of these meetings 1 week in advance and are most welcome to attend.
