Cars in the Park 2016 - A day and year to remember

Now, in its 37th year, this was South Africa’s largest annual Classic Car Events with over 100 clubs participating. This was certainly a day and a year to remember!
On one of the coldest and windiest days of the year, the BMW Car Club Gauteng gets together, BMW turns 100 years old and Robin Sadler hits the 60 mark.
This freezing day begins with Family Withers arriving before 07h00 in their E46 M3 to mark our territory, followed by club stalwarts, the Ribeiro’s (E39 M5 Touring clone), Johann and Mrs Venter proudly in their E24 635CSi, the Kaplan’s in the crowd puller E30 3,5 Alpina rocket.
Chairman, Colin van Son’s Red E9 3.0 CSi and Robin Sadler’s pristine blue M Coupe add to the front row eye candy.
Down to business: gazebo’s go up, home-baked cheese muffins come out, croissants, coffee, platters etc are enjoyed by all who arrive, join in and pass by.
With military precision, the Ribeiro’s Potjie ingredients are laid out and the oxtail begins bubbling away, tempting taste buds. Wine, laughter and festivities are next on the order of the day.
We feast on a lunch fit for kings, followed by cake and champagne. A great day is had by all!
We look forward to the Concours d'Elegance 2016 at Nelson Mandela Square on Sunday the 4th of September and of course, one of our favourites, Cars in The Park 2017.
