On Sunday the 12th June, members and friends of the BMW club embarked on our inaugural Brunch run from the Castrol Head Office to Ducks Restaurant in Henley-On-Klip.
The first stop was our sponsor for the day, Castrol, which is based in Parktown. We were warmly welcomed by Thato Penyenye and the rest of the friendly Castrol team.
We were served a tasty assortment of snacks, including scones, muffins, croissants and coffee which were gladly accepted by all on the first real winters day of 2016 for all of us.
Once everyone had had their share of the delectable eats, Rob Bowen began his presentation on Lubricants and the various Castrol products on offer for BMW cars both classic and new. Rob has almost 30 years’ experience in the industry and gave a very informative talk, happily answering questions as he went along.
Thereafter, we all made our way to Ducks Restaurant situated on the bank of the Klip River. The weather was still not co-operating and so we quickly changed our seating plans from a combination of inside and outside table settings to indoors to ensure we were all warm and comfortable. The glowing fires added to the ambience and warmth of the day.
After much chatter and laughter, lunch was served. Once again a tasty assortment of dishes were presented. The pineapple and coconut cobbler and Malva pudding served with homemade custard certainly was a hit with all.
Once dessert had been served, the chatting and socialising continued until late into the afternoon. A most enjoyable day out and we look forward to the next time out together.
Thank you once again to our sponsor, Castrol.
Thanks also to our families, a special mention to our daughters Hannah for welcoming our guests at Castrol and Sarah-Lee for the assistance in setting up at Ducks. Thanks also to the rest of the committee for their assistance in making this such a great event.
